DIRECTIONAL  DRILLING

TRENCHLESS HORIZONTAL DRILLING

As a directional drilling/ directional boring contractor serving Oregon, Carlson Construction can bore through the ground without disturbing the surface to install underground pipes.

Directional drilling or HDD, is a trenchless method of installing underground utility pipelines for gas, water, sewage, power, cable, and more. It can make it easy to install pipes under trees, roads, bridges, and even rivers.

Directional drilling is utilized when you need access to a line of piping but want to avoid digging up a large plot of land.

This is especially useful in cases where you need to replace plumbing or sewer lines (trench-less line replacement). For trenchless line replacement, we will dig two holes into your line. We then break apart your old line while pulling in a new one simultaneously, allowing for a complete switch of piping without causing excess landscape damage.

The new pipes are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and are designed to last up to 50 years.

BENEFITS OF USING DIRECTIONAL DRILLING

  • Reduces Land Disturbance

  • Reduces costs to repair surface

  • Protects ecosystem and adjacent areas

  • Weather will not directly impact project

  • Ability to drill beneath or around obstructions
